Hello lovely people! Welcome back to #blogtober – daily blogging journey all through October. Today is Day 13

Forest Essentials is a brand that I’ve adored since quite a few years now. It is a luxury Ayurveda brand and most products that I’ve tried have won my heart. Listing a few of favorites from the stash!

Top 5 Forest Essential Favorites

1.Body Mist

I have the Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime variant. You get that lime kick and undertones of pomegranate!

Forest Essentials body mist
Love the fresh fragrance….

I’ll agree for a body mist, it is steeply priced. But then sometime you like to splurge. Comes in a convenient and travel friendly plastic bottle. The fragrance is strong but will not last you the entire day, especially in summers.

Price – 1675/- for 100ml

2. Velvet Silk body Cream

With winters approaching, you need a body cream that’s richly moisturizing. If you’re on the lookout to try a new body cream, I highly recommend the velvet silk body cream range from the Forest Essentials. Mine is from the Madurai Jasmine & Mogra range.

Forest Essentials cream
Thanking mumma for her plants – making all pictures look super pretty.

It’s thick and creamy, perfect for colder months; doesn’t leave your skin greasy, and the fragrance lingers on for a long time. And the best thing, it’s a huge tub and will last you a long time making it complete value for money.

Price – 1695/- for 200gm

3. Cane Sugar Lip Scrub

Okay, I have to admit, this was an impulse buy and it is kinda overrated. But then, sometimes you have to give in to temptations at the store. The lip scrub is quite good. The sugar particles aren’t course, just right for mild exfoliating. The fragrance is great and the biggest plus – it is made of all natural ingredients.

Forest Essentials lip scrub
This tastes so yummm!

Price – Rs. 525/- for 5g

4. Facial Ubtan

I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Roop Nikhar Gulab ubtan from their range. I was told at the store that this particular variant is perfect for normal skin type. I’ve almost finished two tubs and it is a great skincare investment.

You can use it as a cleanser, scrub, or as a ubtan face pack. Makes skin super soft and gives a natural radiant glow. Will also make a great gifting option this festive season.

5. Sanjeevani Beauty Elixir

It’s a fancy name to a facial moisturizer. The formulation is an enriched version of natural sebum. Gets absorbed in the skin instantly to give plump and supple skin.

Love the consistency, bouncy and light. You can use it on its own as a moisturizer, or as a primer. The price is high, but needless to say its premium quality. This is one luxe skincare product that you’ll not regret.

If you like to invest in skincare, do give this one a try.

4. VLCC Almond Under Eye Cream

I’ll say this isn’t that miraculous under eye cream that’ll magically get rid of your dark circles or fine lines. It is thick and moisturizing, so if you’re looking for some added care for your under eyes, this one is a decent pick. Enriched with almonds and vitamin E, it has natural ingredients so you can use it once a day for providing extra care to gentle under eye skin.

In the budget beauty and skincare category, Lotus Herbals is a brand that’s trusted by many. 6. Himalaya Lip Balm

There are quite a few variants available – cocoa, lichi, vanilla, strawberry, and orange. They moisturize your lips pretty well and most of them come without a tint, so you can wear them under or over lipsticks as well. Free from preservatives, petroleum jelly, mineral oil, and silicones and enriched with 100% natural vitamin E.

7. Cameleon Nose Pore Strips

You use a face scrub, a face mask, sheet mask and what not, but most times we forget our nose. The skin on and around your nose has many open pores and its most susceptible to blackheads and whiteheads. Instead of going to the parlor every time, getting these nose pore strips is a budget friendly option.

Blogtober Day 6: Skincare and Makeup Products I Regret Buying

Share Button

Hey there!

Day 6 of #blogtober and today with a heavy heart I celebrate all the money that went down the economy drain.

Although retail therapy is something that is always helpful, but then sometimes it might just backfire. Like when you buy products with high hopes and they come crashing down like a house of cards. Something similar happened to me with the products mentioned below.

skincare products i regret buying
Regret buying these products.

6 skincare and make-up products I regret buying

1.Forest Essentials Ayurvedic Head Massage Oil

Forest Essentials is a brand that I adore. Their products are synonymous with luxury and natural care. But the Ayurvedic Head Massage Oil in Bhring Raj was not my favorite.

forest essentials hair oil
Love – Hate relationship with this Forest Essentials hair oil

It smells awfully Ayurvedic, the packaging and the dispenser is quite inconvenient, and for almost same price you can get other Bhring Raj oils like Indulekha. The oil does make my hair super soft and nourishes them so well, but considering the cons, this was a regretful buy.

Price – 350/- for 50ml

2. The Body Shop Exfoliating Fuji Green Tea Soap

Just a couple of days ago I did a post about my favorite products from The Body Shop. And while working on that post, I remembered this exfoliating soap from their Green Tea range.

skincare products I regret buying
Why you do this TBS??

My only concern is the price. For such a high price, I might as well buy the big tub of a body scrub which will prove to be more value for money. The inconvenience of a soap compared to the ease of a body scrub, what would you choose??

Price – 595/- for 100g

3.Patanjali Neem-Aloe Face Pack

Setting aside the debate of Patanjali, I’ll just focus on this particular face pack. Hands down, the worst face pack I’ve ever tried. It smelled chemically and gave me a bad allergic reaction. It is affordable, but why apply something on your skin when you’re not sure of the quality of the ingredients.

patanjali neem face pack
Don’t waste a single penny on this!

Price – Rs. 60/- for 60g

4. Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick

As much as I love liquid lipsticks and some other products by Sugar Cosmetics, I absolutely regret the decision of buying their Smudge Me Not liquid lipstick. The color I have is – 19 (Jet Set Violet).

sugar jet set violet lipstick
That pretty purple! But that drying formula 🙁

It’s such a stunning shade, but sadly such a drying formula. Nothing you do will help. Lip balm underneath, lip scrub, lip balm over this lipstick, it is so drying that it almost flakes off.

Price – 499/- for 4.5ml

5. Blossom Kochar Hand Cream

I’m a hand cream hoarder, and this is the worst hand cream I’ve tried. Smells awful – like that flowery chemical fragrance. Doesn’t get absorbed quickly leaving your hands sticky and greasy. No doubt it is affordable, but the fragrance kills it. Pay a little extra and you can get great hand creams from The Body Shop, The Face Shop, Nykaa etc.

products i regret buying
The fragrance is such a bummer.

Price – 175/- for 50g

6. Nykaa Paintstix Lipstick

Nykaa Paintstix lipsticks are a favv of many beauty bloggers. I loved the deep chocolate color, but sadly it didn’t work for me. The shade I have is – 12 (Grunge Brown).

It has an artificial chemical laden smell, the formula isn’t great – it’s neither satin nor matte. Bleeds a lot and fades right from the center of your lips. It does transfer and the staying power is bad, so overall this one was total waste of money.

nykaa paintstix
Not the biggest fan of this non-flattering formula.

Price – 425/-for 3.5gm

If you’ve had similar experience with a product, share it in the comments below. Hope you don’t make the mistake of regret buys!

See you tomorrow! Have a great weekend.

Blogtober Day 2: The Body Shop Favorites

Share Button

Hey everyone! Hope you’re doing good. Welcome to Blogtober Day 2!

The Body Shop is a brand whose products have worked very well for me since quite a few years. I love their ideology and it’s a huge plus because they’re a cruelty free brand and believe in community fair trade. Since I’ve burnt quite a big hole in my pocket in TBS retail therapy, I thought it’ll be a good idea to share my favorites.

So, here are my favorites from The Body Shop

1.Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

One of my absolute favorite masks, it is bomb.com! Super effective and true to its name, it deeply cleanses to give a natural glow. It is a mud textured exfoliating mask enriched with charcoal and has tiny green tea leaves. Doesn’t strip off the moisture, yet leaves your skin squeaky clean. It’s great for people with oily skin and those who complain of clogged pores.

2. Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

If you’ve still not included a toner in your skincare routine, you don’t know what you’re missing. One tiny step makes such a difference in the way your skin looks and feels. The Vitamin E toner is gentle and hydrating. Doesn’t make your skin dry at all which is great! It’s clarifying yet moisturizing, so a big yaay!

Include a toner in your skincare routine and see visible changes in your skin.

Price –795/- for 250ml

3. Shower Gel

I cannot zero down which one I like the most. I’ve used Satsuma, strawberry, moringa, argan oil, virgin mojito, and raspberry. They’re a soap free formula, lather well, and feel nice and refreshing.

The body shop shower gel
A big thanks to Angel, my cute neighbor for helping me!

The only thing I don’t like, it’s a huge bottle and wont get over until you’re bored. This is great in a way because that makes it completely value for money.

Price –345/- for 250ml

4. Banana Conditioner

OMG this smells heavenly, almost delicious! If you’re a fan of banoffee pie, you need this in your life. You can use it in combination with the Banana shampoo or Banana hair pack, for that extra care. Its super thick, so you just need a tiny amount. I have to say that although it makes your hair smooth and soft, it doesn’t do much for the frizz.

If only I could make you sniff this heavenly fragrance!

Price –645/- for 250ml

5. British Rose Hand Cream

The entire British Rose range is my new favorite, after the evergreen strawberry. The best part about The Body Shop hand creams is that they’re not sticky. So like me, if your hands become dry and you don’t like that sticky gloopy feeling, then give their hand creams a try. The smaller packing is travel friendly.

(This is the old packaging though)

Price –345/- for 30ml

6. Tea Tree 3 in 1 Wash Scrub Mask

Tea tree is one of their bestsellers in the skincare range. This particular multitasking hero product is great. While maa loves to use it as a scrub, I like to use it as a face wash. It’s great if you have blemishes or uneven skin tone. Also helps get rid of tanning to a certain extent with its fine exfoliating action.

The Body Shop Tea Tree mask and scrub
I love to use it as a mask. Easy and fuss-free…

Price – 1195/- for 125ml

7. Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

While I didn’t like the body sorbet, I’m a huge fan of this face cream. It is so light and gets absorbed instantly. Since it’s a water based sorbet, it hydrates your skin without being too greasy or sticky. Moisturizes intensely and can be used in all seasons.  The texture is pretty similar to Clinique Moisture Surge.

Price – 1095/- for 50ml

Hope you liked these mini reviews. Don’t forget to do a patch test before trying any new product.

See you tomorrow!!

May Favorites

Share Button

Hiii!

Half the year is almost gone and how?? But the best thing about start of a new month means – monthly favorites. I love compiling them. It’s so hot that this time I don’t have a lot of make-up products, but have focused on skincare.

May favorites
Back to writing monthly favs and I couldn’t be happier.

Diving straight into my list of May favorites.

1. NYX Intense Butter Gloss

As much as I love matte red lipstick, in summers I sometimes steer away from it. Over the past two months I’ve been crushing on NYX Intense Butter Gloss. I have (actually I was gifted) the shade – Tres Leches (IBLG 11). It is a pastel pink color.

NYX Butter Gloss Tres Leches
Such a pretty pale pink color. Perfect for everyday wear.

It is the perfect gloss with just the right amount of color.  Even though this is a light shade, it isn’t patchy and spreads evenly, has a thick texture (doesn’t stick which is a great plus). You can wear it on its own as a tint, or top it on a lipstick. Goes very well with Mac Please Me lipstick.

Price –575/- for 8ml

2. The Body Shop Rice Chinese Ginseng & Rice Mask

Summers are so harsh on the skin making it dull and lifeless. The Chinese Ginseng & Rice is a clarifying polishing mask. On days when you want to give your skin the much needed brightness, this mask works best.

Say goodbye to dull skin with this amazzzing face mask.
Source – Makeup Alley

It has a creamy texture with rice grains, great for gentle exfoliation. Ginseng revitalizes, rice extracts softens and illuminates the skin and essential oils make your skin supple and soft. You can use it twice a week, but make sure to do a patch test.

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice face mask review
Love the texture, slightly exfoliating yet not too harsh on the skin.

Price – 1995/- for 75ml

3. Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation

If you’re someone who doesn’t like to put layers of make-up and are good with just a sheer coverage, then this is what you need. Lakme 9 to 5 powder foundation is a great drugstore product for everyday use.

lakme 9 to 5 primer + matter foundation
When the packaging and the product are cohesive, it makes a super hit combo!
Source – be beautilicious

Since it has primer, you don’t need two separate products. The powder is finely milled, and you can almost feel the silicone like primer texture. Use it with the sponge that it comes with for best coverage.

Lakme 9 to 5 powder foundation review
If you’re a NC -35 in MAC, then Natural Light will be the perfect shade for you.

Comes in a pretty rose gold packaging, gives sheer to medium coverage (you can build it up), gives a shine-free matte look, blends easily, doesn’t look patchy, and is perfect for touch ups on the go. I’m in the shade – Natural Light.

Price – 550/- for 9g

4. Forest Essentials Lip Scrub

Matte lipsticks are pure love! But you have to pay a price for love, and here it is dry flaky lips. Using a lip scrub will change your lipstick game. The Cane Sugar lip scrub by Forest Essentials is delicious and does the job perfectly. It is made up of all natural ingredients, is gentle on your lips, and makes them super soft.

Forest Essentials lip scrub
no more flaky dry lips with this delishhh Forest Essentials lip scrub.

Needless to say, it smells divine and gives a feel good vibe! It is slightly expensive, but then brand loyalty. (Forest Essentials isn’t sponsoring this, the products are great quality and deserve all the love)

Price – 500/- for 5g

5. Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water

Talked about getting dolled up, now it’s time to clean up. Micellar waters are a rage in the beauty world these days. Off late I’ve loved the Garnier Oil Infused version. It takes off all the make-up in one swipe.

Garnier micellar water
Makeup off in one swipe, now that’s real power. Loving the oil infused variant.
Source – looksfantastic

Have used the Maybelline Micellar Water in past, and this one is a lot better. Doesn’t sting while taking off eye makeup, it’s quite light and does not leave an oily residue. For this price and quality, it a good budget friendly option.

There is another version (non-oil one) also available, so if you have oily or acne prone skin, you can try that.

Price – 225/- for 125ml

Let me know what all did you love all through May. Share your favorite make-up or skincare product in the comments below. And I’ll see you soon! Bye….

November Favorites

Hi y’all!

After being MIA for over a month (zero motivation level) I’m back to creating content and hopefully being regular in posting. Today it is time to share my November Favorites – all the things I’ve loved through the month.

November Favorites
Time to compile my monthly favorites.

1. The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

Starting the list with my most favorite face packs! This is a clay mask which is enriched with bamboo charcoal for the Himalayan Foothills and Green Tea leaves from Japan. You can distinctly see the tiny green tea leaves in it.

The Body Shop India
Clearly this face pack is at top of my favorites list.
Source – The Body Shop Australia

It unclogs and refines pores to reveal your natural glow. Skin is deeply cleansed leaving it smooth and glowing. It gently exfoliates and is suitable for all skin types. You can use it 1-2 times a week.

The Bosy Shop Himalayan Charcoal Face Mask
Absolutely love this. Give this a try and you’ll say the same.

Price – 1995/- for 75ml

2. Cetaphil Daily Advanced Ultra Hydrating Lotion

Cetaphil is such a popular and understated brand. It makes amazing skincare products. The one that I’ve loved a lot is there ultra hydrating lotion. It served as a great day cream.

Cetaphil facial lotion
Looking for an affordable and efficient lotion? Cetaphil has some good options.

If you’re someone who has dry skin, then this would be the perfect facial cream for you. It provides an instant boost of hydration. The non-greasy, non-irritating formula makes it suitable for all skin types. It is fragrance free and the non-comedogenic formulation ensures that your pores aren’t blocked. Also it is so affordable.

Price – 164/- for 30gm

3. Sugar Matte as Hell Crayon Lipstick

As the name suggests, it is a matte lip crayon. The two colors that I have are – Rose Dawson (05) and Mary Poppins (02).

Sugar Matte as Hell Lip Crayons
True to its name, this lip crayon is matte as hell, yet doesn’t dry your lips.

It is a comfortable formulation which sets completely matte in one stroke. Glides very easily on your lips and doesn’t dry your lips when worn for long hours. Highly pigmented and amazing color pay off. It doesn’t budge or feather which is a great plus. Each lip crayon comes with its own sharpener.

  • Mary Poppins is a bright fuchsia with cool blue undertones. Makes the perfect dupe for Mac Flat Out Fabulous (Retro Matte Collection).
  • Rose Dawson is a pretty peachy pink, a great everyday color.
Sugar lipsticks
Bonus points for such cutesy names.

Price – 799/-

4. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Maybelline knows their mascaras! I think in the drugstore category Maybelline makes some of the best mascaras and these can give high end ones tough competition. Over the past few months I’ve loved the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara (Washable Black).

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
Crushing over this sensational mascara.

It doesn’t clump your lashes and gives them a voluminous look. I really like the wand; it separates your lashes giving them a fluttery full-fan feel. If you don’t wear falsies, yet want that glam look, then the Lash Sensational mascara is a good pick.

Price – 525/-

5. Biotique Bio Honey Water

If you have not included a toner in your skincare regime, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Toner is such an important step, and many times a lot of us tend to ignore it. Invest in a good toner, use it regularly, and you’ll surely the difference in your skin.

Biotique honey water toner
I use the toner with the honey water face wash and it has been working pretty well.

Biotique Honey Water toner is a clarifying toner with Himalayan waters. It is an Ayurvedic recipe and is suitable for all skin types. It refreshes and brightens your skin, has a cooling sensation on your skin. The fragrance is mild and goes away in a couple of minutes. It is gentle yet deeply cleanses your skin.

Price – 175/- for 120ml

These are all the things I’ve been obsessing over in the past month. Let me know what are your favorites and if you’ve used any of these products. Bye!

Goodness of neem needs no emphasis, so does this value for money product. It is gentle, yet deep cleanses and unclogs your pores. It is a purifying mud pack so if you have dry or very dry skin, stay away from this one. You could also use this for multi-masking in just your T-zone.

If you have acne prone skin, give this one a shot. You can use it in combination with Himalaya Neem Face Wash and Scrub for better results.

It comes in powder form. You can add aloe vera gel, rosewater, or milk and apply for a super soft and naturally radiant skin. It is mild, 100% natural, and free from synthetic colors or fragrance.

Also if you are someone with sensitive skin, this can be harsh for your skin.

It is gentle and suitable for all skin types. You can use it twice a week and the best part is it works wonders to remove tan not just from your face, but also legs, arms, neck, and back. Out of the 5 best packs for glowing skin, this is my personal favorite.

3. Patanjali Saundarya Face Wash

The only thing I don’t like is that it takes away the moisture from your skin. You need to apply moisturizer soon after using this, otherwise your skin can feel dry and parched. So if you’re from the dry skin family, stay away from this one.

4. Clean & Clear Foaming Face Wash

Clean and Clear is a brand which is a favorite of many. They have a range of face washes, but my pick is the Clean & Clear Foaming Face Wash. This one is suitable for all skin types, but works best for oily and acne prone skin. It lathers well and takes off all the excess oil from your skin making it feel clean and refreshed. It deeply cleanses, yet is gentle enough to not leave your skin dry or clog pores.
